Political Philosophy for Paul Robert Kruper

I beleive the most important issue to citizens of Kingsburg is to maintain a safe , friendly environment with a small town atmosphere. My duty as a coucilmember is to work to ensure those qualities continue to exist in spite of growth and increased population. Safety is mainly acheived through the function of law enforcement and fire suppression. Funding for adequate police and fire department staff and equipment is paramount. Proper law enforcement is a balancing act between adequate enforcement without draconian actions which make the public fearful of police staff. Building a second fire station on the west side of 99 will ultimately allow more efficient response time since the increased traffic on both 99 and the railway is slowing emergency vehicle travel to the west side of town. Keeping the downtown area viable and attractive gives the town an identity to which citizens can relate and support. The downtown must be pedestrian friendly and provide services which entice people to the area. For example, the library is in a perfect central location which allows people of all ages to feel comfortable walking to and lingering for a while to enjoy the local ambiance. The library is an anchor tenant downtown to encourage a viable pedestrian attractive environment. Kingsburg is collecting its own tax increment for a new library and at some time in the future I would like to see a new library building with its own distinctive style. |
