Why am I Running? The answer is very simple. I want to give back to an organization and community that I have personally gained so much from. The best way I know how, is by utilizing my personal and professional experience to serve you on the El Dorado Hills CSD Board of Directors. Who am I? My family and I have been in El Dorado Hills for the past 37 years. I attended Jackson Elementary, Rescue Junior High, and graduated from Oak Ridge High in the 3rd graduating class. I grew up playing in our neighborhood parks, village parks, community parks, and open spaces. I am a former property manager of a local developer in Folsom and a former board member of a homeowners association. In these capacities, I learned the art of balancing the needs of all stakeholders to make decisions in the best interest of the entire community. In 1999, I went back to school to finish my undergraduate degree in early childhood education while working for the State of California. It was while working for the state that I found a career that I am passionate about...public policy. In 2001, I returned to school again and earned my Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in California landuse and collaborative policy making. For the last 7 years I have worked for an international environmental consulting engineering firm, CH2M Hill. My role with the firm is to work with the State Legislature, Governmental Agencies, and the Governor's Office developing ways to deliver cost-effective high quality water, transportation, energy, and solid waste projects. My Community Involvement There are many wonderful organizations to support, I am fortunate to be affiliated with the following organizations: I have worked with the Mad Hatters a local non-profit and gained them recognition by the California State Senate. I was appointed to the El Dorado County Early Care and Education Planning Council by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors and Superintendent of Schools. The council seeks to assure that the children in El Dorado County have access to high quality early education programs. I was elected by my peers to the Capitol Network Board of Directors, which is a non-profit that raises money so we can provide up to $25,000 each year in grants to other organizations serving the needs of women and children. I am a Member of California Women Lead, formerly the California Elected Women's Association for Education and Research (CEWAER) http://www.cawomenlead.org/ I have additionally been involved as a Director on the Oakwood Homeowners Association and Chair of the Landscape Committee; as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Ponderosa and Cameron Park Country Club Pools; and as a lifeguard and swim coach at the San Jose Swim and Racquet Club. |
