Candidate for Board Member; Chico Area Recreation & Park District

This information is provided by the candidate
I was General Manager for the Chico Area Parks & Recreation District(CARD)from 1972 to 1991,19 years.
In addition to my tenure with CARD, I served as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of San Jose, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Sunnyvale, and as the first Director of Parks and Recreation for Santa Cruz County. I was also interim Bidwell Park Director for approximately six months during my tenure as CARD General Manager.

I was very active in the California Park & Recreation Society, the state wide professional organization for Parks & Recreation, serving on the Board of Directors for many years and was elected the society's president in l981. I also served on California Association of Park & Recreation Insurance original Board of Directors from 1985 to 1991. This Association was created to provide liability insurance for Park & Recreation Special Districts in California.

My family and I have lived in Chico since 1972. Our children attended CUSD schools and they participated in many CARD programs. I was a member of Chico Rotary Club for many years and worked on a number of projects for the local Boy Scouts at their Camp Lassen near Butte Meadows. During my career I have been involved in providing programs and facilities to accommodate all ages. Two major projects completed during my tenure with CARD were the CARD Community Center on Vallombrosa Avenue and Community Park.
