Why I'm RunningBy Linda Jeffery SailorsCandidate for Board Member; San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District; Ward 5 | |

We've been paying for BART for 50 years. Now with the explosion of growth in our region, we need BART to provide the service we were promised.I worked hard as an elected official to help bring BART to Castro Valley and the Tri-Valley - now I'm running for the BART Board to get things moving again. First and foremost, BART must build its promised extensions. Our community wants BART to Livermore. The BART extension will help cut traffic on I-580, relieve congestion at the 680/580 interchange, improve air quality, and ease the parking crunch at the other stations. Second, BART must become a cleaner and a safer system, inside and out, on the trains and in the stations and parking lots. In the outlying areas, we need more parking. We do not have a bus on every corner like the urban cities. I want to see parking for all of us who need it. I look forward to the challenge of being your representative on BART and giving our area the attention it deserves. Please join me - together we can work for a better BART. |
