Quotes.By Ron RosenbaumCandidate for Board of Education; Albany Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This is what neighbors, students, and educators say about Ron:"Ron brought everybody together and made an enormous difference at Albany High; you could feel his influence at the school entrance at 7:30 in the morning and in the hallways all day long. And he's been equally effective for Albany schools at every level, k-12, as a member of the board. We need him." -- Bob Menzimer, parent "I have known Ron for many years, both as a teacher and Principal leader in the East Bay. He is now playing an important role as Board member. He is an extraordinary and proven education leader who always prioritizes children and classrooms first. How great that he now chooses to share his leadership skills and education know-how as an elected official in Albany." -- Sheila Jordan, Superintendent, Alameda County Board of Education "It is extremely valuable to have a board member who knows the schools so well and who understands the needs of the Albany school community as well as Ron does." -- Sharada Thompson, Albany teacher "Many of us who have had the fortune to work with Ron have appreciation for his thoughtfulness, his willingness to hear all sides of complex issues and reach for solutions, and his thoroughness and follow-through in making so many ideas come to fruition." -- Merry Selk, parent "This year was a very hectic and trying year. Applying to colleges, sports, friends parents, let alone graduating. There were a lot of bumps on the road, and small hiccups here and there. I started the year strong, and my first semester 3.5 got to my head. I started slacking, my commitment as a student athlete went out the window, and little by little my makeup work piled higher and higher. I became behind in all my classes. The 3.5 I had, suddenly was overshadowed by the 1.8 I managed to accumulate midway through the second semester. My parents didn't know what to do with me, so they called an old family friend, Mr. Rosenbaum, and told him my situation. Immediately, Mr. Rosenbaum demanded to have lunch with me. At our lunch, Rosenbaum didn't yell at me, or grill me, but motivated me to work harder and get my act together. From then on, Rosenbaum was very hands on with making sure I was going to graduate, from checking my daily attendance, to even talking to my teachers. Mr. Rosenbaum would be perfect for the school board, because he's very proactive, and very progressive. I can genuinely say that I could not have made it through Albany High without the help and support of Mr. Rosenbaum. Thanks Ron." -- Daniel Singh, AHS class of 2008 |
