Proven Leadership

Dan Cunningham along with his wife, Holly and three sons, Andrew, Brandon and Christopher have lived in the City of Dublin for over 13 years. During that time he has been an active leader in the community. He currently serves as a member of Dublin Unified School District, District Optimization Commission. The Commission advises the School Board on a wide range of issues affecting our schools. Recently, as a member of the Commission, Dan along with other parents worked to ensure that the recent budget cuts had minimal impact on our teachers and students. In the area where our classrooms were impacted, Dan helped to make sure that impacted programs were the first to be restored when the funding became available.

Besides serving on the District Optimization Commission, Dan has been actively involved in the schools. He currently serves as the Secretary for the Dublin High School Band Boosters. In addition, Dan has been the team parent for the Freshmen and JV football teams at Dublin High School.

Outside of the schools, Dan has been active as the Scoutmaster for his sons' Boy Scout Troop. As Scoutmaster for the last 10 years, Dan has helped over 30 young men achieve Boys Scouts highest honor, Eagle Scout. Two of his sons, Andrew and Brandon, have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. His youngest son Christopher is currently a Life Scout and looks forward to joining his brothers as an Eagle Scout.

Qualifications

Our schools continue to face financial uncertainty. Our representatives in Sacramento continue to put off dealing with the State financial mess. Their unwillingness to make the tough decisions and clean up the State's financial house put extreme pressure on all the school districts in the state. The Dublin Unified School District is no exception. Dan has the experience and expertise to help Dublin Schools during these difficult economic times. Dan has a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from California State University, Long Beach. In addition to a strong educational background, Dan has over 19 years of progressive experience as a financial manager and is Chief Financial Officer for the San Jose Convention Center.

Dan's leadership and community experience combined with his financial expertise provide an excellent background to help guide Dublin's schools to succeed.
