School days should be the happiest days of a child's life. They should be days filled with friendship, challenge, excitement and inspiration; a time when children can explore who they want to be and what they want accomplish in the future.

There are three areas that currently are keeping our district from creating the type of ideal learning atmosphere that we would like for our children to enjoy:

FUNDING Our district is underfunded which means that every dollar we receive from the government must be spent wisely to optimize what we can achieve for our students. Budget cuts continue to loom in the future as a challenge the next Board of Education must address. I want to make sure that the choices we make do not devastate programs our children rely upon; even as we continue to lobby Sacramento for additional funding and look for partnerships to bring in new money to Fremont Unified School District.

A STABLE DISTRICT OFFICE Our administrators at the district office create the necessary ground work for what we can achieve at our school sites. Constant change has created a very unstable atmosphere. The next Board of Education will decide who should be our next Superintendent, laying the bedrock for success. We need someone who is a leader, who works co-operatively and who understands education and the specific needs of our diverse community.

COMMUNICATION Without effective communication our parents do not learn of opportunities to help their children succeed, policies voted upon by the Board of Education are not implemented and we cannot expect to have a successful partnership with the City of Fremont. Nothing is more important.
