Traffic Congestion

Steve Brozosky is an outspoken advocate for traffic congestion relief with his leadership on the Tri-Valley Transportation Council, the Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority and the Alameda County Transportation Authority. Steve has fought to keep transportation dollars where they belong...on our local streets and highways.

Steve has been at the forefront of improving our local public transportation infrastructure. Steve is a strong supporter of extending the current BART line to Livermore, and as Chair of the Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority (Wheels Bus) has helped make the wheels public transit system more efficient and rider friendly and increased the bus-to-school program.

Steve has also fostered relationships with regional leaders. A recent trip to Washington D.C. with leaders from other cities, the county, and business interests brought back $18 million for regional traffic solutions.

Public Participation

Steve will push to keep City government open for you. He supports the citizens' right to petition their government, and does not believe a Council that fights citizens' petitions with lawyers and competing initiatives encourages public participation. Petitioning your government is one of the most important rights of democracy. Steve will set the tone for Council meetings based on the Pleasanton Community of Character Ideals and, in particular, that of "respect".

Financial Strength

Steve is an outspoken advocate for fiscal responsibility.

As a City Council member, Steve negotiated the deal with Alameda County to annex Staples Ranch in order to retain our Pleasanton auto dealers with their significant tax revenue. This revenue is required for us to keep the City services our residents expect.

As a School Board Trustee, Steve took a lead role in the School District budget discussions to find ways of trimming the budget without affecting programs that directly impacted our students. While the money from the State is down, a balanced budget was passed that even included increases to school counselors. While many people wanted to ask for an additional tax from our residents, Steve insisted that we try everything possible before we even consider asking the residents for more tax money.

Housing

Steve will aggressively defend the voter-approved housing cap in Pleasanton, and he will remain true to his track record of responsible slow-growth. He will focus our remaining housing on smaller starter homes for our young families, not on mansions that destroy our hills and irreplaceable oak trees. With our housing cap, every mansion built in the hills is one less house we can build for our young families. The housing cap is important to the quality of live in Pleasanton. However, the cap is under attack by some elected officials. Measure PP must be passed so that the elected officials do not, as they are currently discussing, approve thousands of homes over our housing cap. Some of our elected officials are not respecting the housing cap and discussing "innovative" ways to get around it without going back to the voters who approved it. Measure PP closes the loopholes, forcing the elected officials to observe the voter-approved housing cap.

Quality of Life

As someone who has raised a family in Pleasanton, Steve Brozosky appreciates the unique quality of life we enjoy. As a City Councilman, Steve was a leader in revitalizing our downtown district and finding the financing necessary to start the Downtown Firehouse Arts Center. Steve has fought hard to give our kids and families the parks and playing fields that Pleasanton requires. The work he started resulted in the creation of the new Sports fields at Donlon Elementary School and the creation of a new BMX bike course in conjunction with East Bay Parks.

As your Mayor, Steve will be committed to continuing the work he has started on the City Council, and will work to retain Pleasanton's "hometown" feel.

Public Safety

Steve Brozosky is concerned that our citizens will be unnecessarily vulnerable in a man-made or natural disaster. As our Mayor, Steve will:

  • Support local neighborhood watch efforts.
  • Ensure our police officers and fire fighters are properly trained for emergencies like this.
  • Ensure the residents and businesses know what to do during the first 72-hours after a disaster because we would all be on our own for 72-hours.
  • Ensure our police and fire force have the tools they need to keep us safe.
