Answer from Sarah Steelman:
As State Treasurer, I have invested hundreds of millions of dollars back into our state's economy, led one of the nation's best 529 college savings plans, returned record amounts of unclaimed property back to Missourians, and was the first Treasurer in the nation to pull a state's investments out of companies that support terrorist regimes. All of this was accomplished while cutting the office's operational budget significantly from the amount spent by my predecessor.
With uncertainty in the economy and rising food and fuel prices, I believe my background and experience makes me the most qualified candidate for governor. Among other things, I have already proposed real tax relief for Missouri families. I am best suited to constrain
Washington-style out of control spending and fiscal mismanagement.
In sum, I will use my Missouri experience to make our state a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Answer from Jennie Lee Schwartze "Jen" Sievers:
Answer from Sarah Steelman:
I will make ample use of the line item veto, propose budgets that live within our means, and aggressively root out waste. I will constantly look for ways to streamline government and make it more efficient and smaller.
I will defend life at all stages as outlined in my
"life is precious" initiative, protect second amendment rights, private property rights, freedom of religion, and marriage.
