Why We Must Impeach Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and GonzalesBy Carol L. (Shepard) BrouilletCandidate for United States Representative; District 14; Green Party | |

There are ample grounds for impeachment. The current official policies are illegal and immoral. To redeem ourselves, as a nation, it is the responsibility of the American people, particularly Congress, to hold top elected officials responsible for crimes committed against the United States and the world. The Santa Clara County Green Party passed this resolution on March 7, 2006- A RESOLUTION OF THE GREEN PARTY OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA in defense of the Constitution of the United States demanding the impeachment of George W. Bush, Richard B. Cheney and two complicit associates.
Whereas the Declaration of Independence declares securing "unalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" to be the purpose of government and
Whereas the Constitution of the United States establishes the firm foundation for our rule of law and its Bill of Rights provides for the precious individual rights and freedoms guaranteed to all American citizens,
Whereas, in the conduct of their offices, President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, in violation of their constitutional oaths to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution" and to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed," have committed any or all of the following "high Crimes and Misdemeanors:"
Therefore, the Green Party of Santa Clara County demands the impeachment and consequent removal from office of the four aforementioned officials. We all agreed that Impeachment was the best path forward, although we recognized that there were crimes against the American people not included within the resolution. We agreed that the Presidential Elections were stolen in 2000 and 2004, but we didn't have solid evidence on who, specifically organized the elections to be stolen, and we were unsure of whether an offense committed prior to obtaining office could be considered impeachable. I added the lines about obstructing justice, destroying evidence, and covering up the truth about 9-11 because I have been doing research on the issue, since 2001. I believe that the "War on Terrorism" is a hoax. It is a "War of Terrorism" against the American people and the world, used to further the criminal agenda of the Project for a New American Century. Their stated goal of world dominance by militarily transforming the United States was greatly facilitated by "a catastrophic and catalyzing event like a New Pearl Harbor" which their documents seemed to demand. The official 9-11 Commission was not bipartisan and thorough, but directed by a member of the Bush National Security team, Philip Zelikow, who authored the policy of "Pre-Emptive War" and tried to justify it, through the 9-11 Commission, by selling the official myth of 9-11, and carefully omitting and distorting any evidence which challenged it. 9-11 has been the foundation of the Bush Administration's policies, and used by both major parties to create Homeland Security, to pump up the military budget and the surveillance budget. When "Counter-Terrorist" task forces target "Fresno Peace" and the "Raging Grannies," when there is evidence that genuine terrorists have been trained, financed, assisted, employed by the U.S. government, there is a need for oversight, and policy changes. When elected officials terrorize Americans by issuing false "Terror Alerts" to maintain their power, we must see through the hypocrisy and lies, and hold them accountable for their words and deeds. Now, in 2008, we know that the official 9/11 Report was based on tortured confessiona. The administration has tried to legitimize and institutionalize torture. They have flagrantly violated the Constitution, International Law and ignored the decisions of the Supreme Court. Failure to impeach is the failure of Congress to uphold their oaths of office. |
