Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Dave Smyser

Candidate for
County Board of Supervisors; Santa Barbara County; Supervisorial District 3

This information is provided by the candidate

1) Preserve Our Quality Of Life: Dave supports improved county planning to protect open space, maintain our rural heritage and encourage water and energy conservation in future projects.

2) Put Public Safety First: Public safety is the county's most important responsibility. As our Supervisor, Dave will support the highest level of Law Enforcement and Fire Protection services for county residents.

3) Support Fiscal Responsibility: Dave supports an Economic Vitality Plan that promotes Santa Barbara County's outstanding Higher Education resources to attract quality jobs and provide new revenues for county parks, roads and services. He opposes higher taxes on local residents.

4) Make Government Accountable: Dave supports more local control of tax revenues and land use planning decisions. As our Supervisor, he will hold regular community meetings to listen to the people and ensure that the concerns of BOTH North County and South County communities are addressed. He will support the residents of Goleta by revising the county's unfair revenue agreement and providing Goleta with its fair share of local tax revenues.

5) Protect The Environment: Under Dave's leadership, the Air Pollution Control Board helped Santa Barbara County achieve the highest level of air quality standards. As our Supervisor, he will work to preserve the Gaviota Coast as it is now--rural,open and natural.
