Political Philosophy for Norm Dickinson
Candidate for |
My two main Positions are: 1) Central Committee Endorsements I believe the Central Committee should maintain highly ethical and moral standards and support only the Registered Republican candidates who are like-minded and fully committed to Republican Principles. These standards need to be enforced. The Committee should not bend to the pressure of others who have personal, professional or financial interest in the candidate. The endorsement should be based on the candidate's dedication to republican principals and who are the most qualified to serve in the office. At a recent Central Committee meeting, a motion was made to endorse a candidate who was not a Registered Republican. I and a few others voted against the endorsement, however the endorsement was approved. Many of the Central Committee higher-ups and inter-circle members recommended (and pushed for) endorsementing Sheriff Carona; I spoke in opposition and voted against endorsing Sheriff Carona. 2) Precinct Operations Precinct Operations, consisting of Voter Registration and Get Out the Vote (GOTV), needs to be strengthen by implementing a permanent precinct organization. In the pass major political candidate organizations basically took over the precinct operations and dictated what was to be done and the methods used. Their objective was to get their candidate elected and did not include any support of state or local candidates. The Central Committee should insist that a substantial and mature precinct organization be in place and sustained year around. This organization should take the lead in registration and GOTV activities and not let others direct it. PS. Call me if you are interested in becoming part of the Orange County Republican Precinct Operations. |
