Candidate for

Originally from upstate New York and a community of ethnic and cultural diversities, chiefly Italian, Jewish and Polish families, and a sizable population of Black Americans, I have become a Californian by choice and now introduced to Latino/Hispanic communities and those of Asians and Native Americans, along with so many others that together represent the tapestry of our culture rich in customs, traditions and cuisine.

Along came my Prince Charming, having come to the United States when he was three years old with his family from Portugal, then a First Lieutenant, United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command, our marriage, two sons, and now six grandchildren. He had graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, been commissioned from AFROTC, and would become Regular Air Force, rank of Major, both rated and an AF Development Engineer, killed on active duty in Vietnam when our sons were just 6 and 8; a two engine Gunship went down on takeoff for a combat mission; killed instantly, only 34. He had been a Program Director within Air Force Space and Missiles Systems Organization, Minuteman, and as he was to be reassigned, I had remained at our home in Highland, becoming Chairman of Southeast Asia Officers' Wives in the area [Air Force, Army, Navy] at Norton AFB.

Together with my life journey and educational background with undergraduate degree in Sociology and graduate MBA, a lifelong pattern of community, social and political involvement, mine is a history of commitment to this nation and our ideals that my husband served so proudly to protect, preserve and defend, an entire career in "Peace Through Deterrence." Political involvement is second nature and my outrage at the criminal misadventure of Iraq is implicit. There are no easy solutions. No "yellow buses."

Accordingly, I am not a pedestrian when it comes to national security and those issues now ripping across our society as we pray once again for those of The Armed Forces in danger, their families serving alongside, as they are protecting their country and our people.

Similarly having shared discipline that attaches to dealing with adversity, having availed of our Air Force support systems and both educational/career counseling and funding through the Veterans Administration, mine is inherent empathy with the plight of so many of our people today, whether issues of health care or education or challenges of housing, jobs, child care and the balancing of all responsibilities in an economy demanding two paychecks wherein time is in scarce supply. My own background has been in real estate development, brokerage, mortgage and commercial banking.

Historically, the Democratic Party is that "of the people," and that is why I am committed to working with others to build its strength and fortitude, to get it back to the basics, to the focus on the public welfare, health and safety, our MUTUAL objectives.

ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL. My focus has been on interests of my CONSTITUENTS, their EMPOWERMENT, and MUTUAL OBJECTIVES. In asking for your continued support, I set forth below my demonstrated performance and commitment.

KERRY/EDWARDS CAMPAIGN 2004. Huntington Beach City Precinct Captain: recruiting, training and organizing volunteer efforts. Located, opened and managed the HB Campaign Headquarters, recruiting staff and generating significant supporting revenues.

GORE/LIEBERMAN CAMPAIGN 2000. Active in organization of participation, precinct efforts, voter registration.

CLINTON/GORE CAMPAIGN 1992. Multiple contributions from recruitment and organization of volunteers for precinct organization, Park Huntington Precinct Captain, staffing of the campaign headquarters, recruitment of members and candidates for leadership of the 67th Assembly District Committee.

DUKAKIS/BENSON CAMPAIGN 1988. With fervor of a convert from The Republican Party, submerged in all efforts to recruit and engage Democrats and EVERYONE ELSE, precinct captain. Efforts rewarded with election as Delegate of the newly formed 67th Assembly District in January 1989 to the Democratic State Central Committee.
