Reduce Overcrowding at the County Jail

By Dolly Brown

Candidate for Supervisor; Mendocino County; Supervisorial District 1

This information is provided by the candidate
There is no money for a new county jail, given the condition of the state budget and the economy in general. Our overcrowded and leaky jail on Low Gap Road is a serious problem.
Dolly wants to create an honor farm for nonviolent prisoners, where inmates could clock in each morning, work in a garden where vegetables are grown for all the inmates, and go home to their families at night. This project could remove up to 80 prisoners from a population of over 300. It would save money, reduce the pressure of over-crowding, allow repair of leaky roofs and provide fresh organic vegetables at no cost to the taxpayer.
