2. Why are you running for Superior Court judge? (No more than 75 words total for questions 2 and 3.)

Answer from Robert Davenport:
My election will increase the ethnic diversity of judges in Los Angeles County to more accurately reflect the population of the county. An important reason we elect, and not appoint, judges in California is to reflect the ethnicity of the population.
Answer from Douglas W. Weitzman:
I have always strived to be a judge since elementary school. I have been a judge pro tem since 1987 and I have heard over 50,000 cases.
I have the equivalent to 3 court years serving as a judge pro tem.
Answer from Jared D. Moses:
After fourteen years as a criminal prosecutor, I believe I can better serve my community as a Superior Court judge. I am dedicated to advancing public safety and fairness in the courtroom.

Answer from Jared D. Moses:
With my strong academic background, my extensive courtroom experience handling the most serious cases and my commitment to public safety and fairness, I believe I can make a positive contribution to our criminal justice system.
Answer from Douglas W. Weitzman:
My prior training and experience sitting on the bench as a judge pro tem, hearing more than 50,000 cases already.
I also attend the mandatory training courses as offered by the Superior Court.
Answer from Robert Davenport:
Many ethnic groups are extremely under-represented on the bench, and as a result they do not receive a fair shake in the judicial system. My election will help to correct this injustice.

Until 5:00 p.m. on April 4, 2008,
candidates for Superior Court Judge must limit their answers to 100
words total for all questions so that a paper Voters Guide may be
published. Specific word limits are as follows: 25 words for
question 1; 75 words total for questions 2 and 3. After 5:00 p.m. on
April 4, 2008, word limits will no longer apply.
