- TRIAL EXPERIENCE: As a Deputy District Attorney and public servant for over a decade, I have been in a courtroom almost daily since 1996.
- FLEXIBILITY: The bulk of what the Courts handle are civil and criminal jury trials. Because of my well-rounded legal background (civil and criminal) I supply what the overworked and understaffed trial courts need.
- I am honored by the SUPPORT BY THE PEOPLE of Los Angeles through the: Mayor, Judges, District Attorney, Sheriff, and Newspaper (The LA Times)

2. Why are you running for Superior Court judge? (No more than 75 words total for questions 2 and 3.)

Answer from Harvey A. Silberman:
I have been on the bench since 2004, first presiding over a courtroom hearing domestic violence matters and now a family law trial court. I would like to expand my work to include county and statewide policy and administrative issues especially those concerning children.
Answer from Serena Raquel Murillo:
To join the ranks of those men and women who uphold our system of laws, which have enabled me, a first generation American, to succeed through hard work, honesty, integrity and a commitment to the public I serve.

3. What experiences and personal qualities best equip you to serve as judge? (No more than 75 words total for questions 2 and 3.)

Answer from Harvey A. Silberman:
Integrity, experience and compassion. Appointed as Commissioner in 2004, my work as a child advocate, years of experience as a public interest lawyer serving the sick and indigent of our community.
Answer from Serena Raquel Murillo:
1. Experience protecting the public: As a prosecutor I am an expert in criminal laws and sentencing.
2. Concern for our community: As a Los Angeles county native, resident, and employee, I understand the people I serve.
3. Trial Experience: I can save taxpayer money and resources by efficiently handling jury trials and numerous court proceedings with knowledge and expediency.

Until 5:00 p.m. on April 4, 2008,
candidates for Superior Court Judge must limit their answers to 100
words total for all questions so that a paper Voters Guide may be
published. Specific word limits are as follows: 25 words for
question 1; 75 words total for questions 2 and 3. After 5:00 p.m. on
April 4, 2008, word limits will no longer apply.
The order of the candidates is random and changes daily. Candidates who did not respond are not listed on this page.
