Mayor; City of Fresno

Jerry Duncan was born in Fresno, California on December 31, 1952. As a youth, he moved to the Bay Area where he graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1971. He gained a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from Michigan State University where he graduated in 1976.

Jerry's 25 years of successful business experience began in 1976 with Burroughs Corporation in Southfield, Michigan where he won numerous national sales awards. In 1978 he returned home to Fresno and began working at the family owned business Duncan Enterprises where he served as Product Marketing Manager and Advertising Manager until leaving in 1990 to establish his own business. The first business he founded was, Quick-Signs, which he owned from 1991-1997. From there he was President and Co-Founder of Pro-Screen, Inc. from 1993-2000 and Mega-Prints, Inc. from 1998-2001.

In January 2001, Jerry was sworn in as a member of the Fresno City Council representing District Six. Since elected, he has brought forward numerous initiatives which successfully streamlined the size and scope of our local government and brought innovative solutions to some our most significant community challenges. During the first three years of his tenure he served as Chairman of the Redevelopment Agency and was one of the primary architects of Vision 2010, the master vision for Downtown Fresno that is well underway to be accomplished. In 2006 Jerry served as President of the Fresno City Council, where under his leadership, he also led the Council in working cooperatively with the County Board of Supervisors in several joint meetings on the consolidation of law enforcement.

Jerry is currently serving on the Fresno County Zoo Authority.

Community involvement has been very important to Jerry and he has served on various Boards of Directors, including Children Services Network, the Fresno State Quarterback Club, Park Fort Washington Homeowners Association Board, Crime Stoppers, and Alcohol Drug Abuse Council. He was also a member of the Fresno Citizens Police Academy, Class VIII, and has volunteered in numerous Friant Road safety activities and is generally credited with starting the effort that has successfully made this highway much safer.

He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of Brotherhood of the Badge and serves on the Fresno State University Criminal Justice Advisory Board.

In addition, Jerry has served in leadership roles in the Fresno County Republican Central Committee, was part of the State Leadership Team for Mitt Romney for President and served as an alternate delegate at the 2004 Republican National Convention. He has also served his community by being in the Fresno State Bulldog Foundation, Fresno State Quarterback Club, Empower America Leadership Council, Republican National Committee Presidents Club, and is a Life Member of the NRA.
