Candidate for
Member, Green Party County Council; County of Contra Costa

I have lived in Contra Costa County for 25 years during which, at various times, I served on the board of the Mt. Diablo Peace Center and as a chief steward in AFGE Local 1122.

I chose the Green Party because I was tired of progressives being forced to fight the same battles over and over again, begging for crumbs from the two major parties.  I've been registered Green since 1995, and have been continuously active in the Green Party since Ralph Nader's 2000 Presidential campaign.

It has been my honor to serve on the Green Party of Contra Costa County Council since March 2002, and I am a founding member of the Diablo Greens local chapter.  I have also served the Green Party at the state level as a member on several committees and as Co-Coordinator on the Green Party of California Coordinating Committee.

I am currently an active member of Diablo Post-Carbon, a group that seeks grassroots solutions to the coming environmental crisis that will affect us all.

I am committed to building a strong opposition party in Contra Costa County; a party that reflects the growing diversity in our county. Democracy has never been a spectator sport, and in this age of climate change and economic upheaval, every citizen's active participation is vital.

I seek a fourth term on the County Council to continue my work in this effort.  Most of all, I hope that Greens throughout Contra Costa will join with us to build a better county, state and country. For when change comes to the suburbs, the rest of the country will follow.
