Candidate for
Supervisor; County of Contra Costa; Supervisorial District 5

As a lifelong East County resident and Marine, I have served our country and county for over 21 years.

I've spent 11 years in law enforcement. I was a reserve police officer in Antioch from 1992 to 1996 where I worked on the Problem Oriented Policing team, policing "hot spots" during the dangerous midnight shift. I opposed the proposal to build a prison in Antioch, the Board of Supervisors later agreed and reversed their position.

I serve on a regional transportation authority (TRANSPLAN) which seeks funding for East County road improvements, specifically the widening of HWY 4. Securing transportation funding from Federal, State and County officials is my top priority, not adding more taxes to our East County families.

As Chairperson of the Oakley Planning Commission, I have direct public planning and public works experience.

As Chief Financial Officer of a local company (employing 92 people), I brought the company from the brink of bankruptcy, to profitability, in two years, while developing a health care and retirement plan for every employee.

I served as assistant shop steward in Public Employees Union Local 1 from 1992 through 2003 and grew up in a union home. I will work closely with County officials and local unions to overhaul our Public Employee Retirement System, ensuring union families are protected, while improving the County's bottom line.

My wife and four school age children were all born in East County and I deeply care about our region. A time for change is before us.
