Dear Neighbor, I have had the privilege of serving as an Ossining Board of Education Trustee since 1999. Throughout my years of community involvement, I have come to appreciate that Ossining is a diverse community made up of people with many different needs and concerns. I care deeply about our community and I seek to improve the educational outcomes for all of our students. We have much to be proud of in our Ossining Schools, yet there is still more to do. The demands on our schools are many as we strive to improve our students' achievement and ensure that they meet the demands of higher standards. We must stay focused on keeping our schools strong while balancing the fiscal needs of our taxpayers.
It is essential that the schools and the community form a strong partnership to guarantee the success of our students. Over the past six years, I have worked hard to facilitate the creation of a community vision to support our students beyond the schools by initiating and Co-Chairing the Ossining Communities That Care (OCTC) coalition. OCTC seeks to enhance the collaboration among local organizations and community members to improve services for Ossining's youth and families. I have also worked hard to bring alternative funds into our schools, by helping to create the Ossining MATTERS educational foundation in 2003. In its first six years, Ossining MATTERS has already donated more than $200,000 to the Ossining schools to fund educational programs.
Please help me to keep our schools and our community moving forward. I hope you will take the time to read further about my involvement in Ossining. You may call me at 762-9208 if you have any questions. Thank you for your support on Tuesday, May 20th. Sincerely, Alice Joselow |
