Managing Change

By Andrew N. "Andy" Weissman

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Culver City

This information is provided by the candidate
Change is inevitable. What effective governance is about is managing change. The scope of change; the direction and pace of change. In this process, experience is invaluable.

The challenge for the Council is gauging the sense of the community and making critical policy decisions; ones you know will please some and displease others. As a Planning Commission, I have done that. I have voted to approve projects that I thought were compatible with and beneficial to the community. I have voted against projects that I believed were inappropriate in and incompatible with the neighborhood.

Leadership requires the desire, creativity and patience to engage in dialogue with those who disagree with you. That's what I have to offer; it's what I have been doing for that past 30 years. In me, you will get a Councilmember who understands the magnitude and complexity of the challenges the City faces and has the experience to address them from day one.

You can trust that as a Council member, I will continue to use my best judgment to make decisions that are in the best interests of all of Culver City.
