Jerry Metz: My Life History I am a native of Cincinnati. Born in 1950, I am the oldest of Jerry and Loretta Metz's 8 children. I have have been married to Debbie Metz for 31 years, and we have three children--Andrew, 26; Matt, 24; & Angela, 24. My wife and I currently live in Mt. Washington, where we have lived for more than 24 years. My Education I received my law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1980. I am a graduate of Xavier University. In addition, I attended Belle Haven Elementary (Dayton OH), Precious Blood School (Dayton OH), St. John the Evangelist School, The Archbishop's Choir School, Moeller High School, St. Gregory's Seminary High School, Raymond Walters College, and Mt. St. Mary's Seminary. My Legal Background I began my legal career as a lawyer assistant to the Hon. David S. Porter, Judge at the U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. I was a partner in the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, LLP from 1990 to 2007, where I represented both plaintiffs and defendants, corporations and individuals before the courts. Before that, I was an associate at Porter, Wright and a predecessor firm. I now practice law in Mt. Washington. My uncle, the Honorable Edward J. Donnellon was a Judge of the Hamilton County Municipal Court. Community Involvement I am Secretary and a Board Member of the Ohio Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation. My wife and I were co-presidents of the the PTO of Mercy Montessori School when our children attended there. I was Secretary of the former Winton Place Development Corporation (now Spring Grove Village). And, I was a member of the board of the Southern Gateway Chorus. I am a member of the Choir and Social Ministries Advisory Commission at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Anderson Township. I serve both state and federal courts as a mediator, and I serve as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau and the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. I have been a long-time coach, judge, and referee of youth sports. I have written educational and reference materials for lawyers and make regular presentations to improve the practice of law. And, I have recently been named to the adjunct faculty of Xavier University, Williams College of Business, to teach "Legal and Ethical Regulatory Environment" within the Master of Business Administration program (beginning July 2008). |
