My Vision for Our Schools
We must focus on maintaining and improving academic excellence. To achieve this top priority, kids should be able to Master Grade Level Standards. Testing requirement should be balanced with solid curriculum. Teachers and administrators should be supported in the curriculum plans and excellent school programs. 1st Rate Teachers Are Top Priority This is a must for quality education. Teachers must be properly rewarded, compensated and should be given adequate professional staff development opportunities. Safe and Modern 21st Century Schools Our schools should be safe and accountable to parents, teachers and to our children. Good emergency plans, city-wide code compliance, monthly drills, and drug-free and gang-free environments are crucial. I support school beautification and modernization, and well-equipped schools. School is for Life ! School is preparation for life, not just for work. Schools should continue focusing on the complete development of children by offering a broad spectrum of other activities like sports, music, and art. After school programs are also important. Get More Money, Spend Wisely! I will work with the City, local businesses and the community to explore additional sources of funding. Budget efficiency and fiscal accountability are critical. Promoting Good Citizenship Schools should nurture character, and create an environment where students respect themselves, parents, family and others. Listen and respond to concerns of parents and teachers The Board, Administrators and Teachers must work well together to place the needs of all students above other agendas. The Board of Trustees, Administrators, Teachers and Parents should exhibit high level of communication, trust, respect and collaboration. |
