Quality of LifeBy Stephen J. RopskiCandidate for Council Member; Borough of Folcroft | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
If re-elected I would like to concentrate on our quality of life, restoring our parks and playgrounds for the children of our Borough, re-establishing the Town watch to keep our children and young adults safe, working with the Senior Citizens of our Borough to see what their needs maybe, by keeping our residents informed of new laws, and ordinances.I would like to introduce my self, my name is Stephen J. Ropski and I am seeking a second term as Councilman for the Borough of Folcroft. I have worked at Overbrook School for the Blind as the Grounds Superintendent for the past 15 years, and maintain a self employed Landscaping Business. My wife Susan and I have been married 13 years and we have two beautiful children Sara and Stephen. We have lived in the Borough of Folcroft for 11 years. I have always believed that to be a good politician you must first have good people supporting you, which I believe the residents of Folcroft to be and second believe in what you are trying to do. The past 4 years have been very interesting; I became more familiar with our Borough and the needs of the residents. I concentrated on my committees which have been Insurance, and Ordinances that I was assigned and offered suggestions when consulted for other committees such as Highway and Sanitation, and Police and Fire. I assisted in lobbying for 3 grants with our State Reps. and Congressman for our Fire Company (1) Federal Home land Security $155K, and (2) State totaling approx $25K. The outcome of obtaining these grants was updating our Fire Company with state of the art technology and protective personnel gear. We also, replaced and updated the water rescue equipment that was damaged during a water rescue at Main Street in Darby. If re-elected I would like to concentrate on our quality of life in the Borough, restoring our parks and playgrounds for the children of our Borough, re-establishing the Town watch so that the residents and the Police can work together to keep our children and young adults safe, working with the Senior Citizens of our Borough to see what their needs maybe and how we can get assistance for them, by keeping our residents informed of new laws, and ordinances and finally creating more informative programs for our youth to get involved in so that they too are made to be apart of the right direction that Folcroft needs to go in. I realize the goals will take time, but I am determined to meet them to bring back the luster of Folcroft. Thank you. |
