1) Residential Neighborhoods
I believe a Trustees most important priority must be to protect - enhance the residential neighborhoods within the Township. Commercial creep must not be allowed. The Townships "land Use Plan" document reinforces that philosphy. This document is updated every 5 years.
To enhance our neighborhoods, we must maintain the infrastructure - i.e. streets, sidewalks, etc. With 50 miles of roadway, this is no small task. But well maintained streets add much to residential valuations.
Finally, a solid program of parks and recreation must be ongoing. Since 1990, we have added 66 acres of additional park land to the Township park system. Some is yet to be developed - pending additional funding.
2) Life Safety
The second most important responsibility of a Trustee must be to provide adeequate Fire, EMS, and Police services. In 1996, the Township established it's own Fire & EMS Service which is now a 24/7 operation. Our department is rated among the top 5 departments in the State of Ohio and is ISO rated a Class 2.
The Townships police protection is provided by contract with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. The Township owns 13 cruisers and is supplemented with additional County cars throughout each shift.
ANY SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP STREET CAN BE WALKED 24/7 WITHOUT DANGER.
Finally, the Township has recently taken additional steps to prevent "sex offenders" from living within 1000 ft. of all facilities where young people gather.
3) Healthy Business District
Every community - to survive - must maintain a healthy and thriving business district. The Kenwood Towne Centre area - along with Sycamore Plaza - is now recognized nationally as a "regional" shopping destination.
Since the Township does not have an earnings tax, our residential valuations are supported and enhanced by a healthy business district.
