Questions & Answers

1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)

I have been the Ward Two Council Representative for four years. I represent St. Bernard with Hamilton County Suburbs, OKI, and the I 75 Athestic Committee. Being a member of these groups has allowed me to attend many seminars where I have learned a lot of ideas to improve our city and I have met many people to help us.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Hire Al Kanters as our Economic Deveolper and work with him to implement professional/educated ideas to start the revitilation of St. Bernard. We need to work on the weaknesses of our city and turn them around and market our strengths to bring in new residents and businesses. I want to concentrate on Vine Street to beautify it, purchase property and build new townhouses and bring in new businesses. I also think it is very important to re-write our property codes to make them much stricter and to enforce them better. We need to raise the standards of our property maintnance.

3. State three actions that you recommend to promote regional cooperation, and explain how you would implement each action? (150 word limit)

Our city leaders need to learn the importance of working with other community leaders to learn from their weaknesses and strenths and to create a network of people to work with. I have been very lucky to meet other mayors, administrators, coucnil representatives, etc. with my participation with Hamilton County First Suburbs, OKI,and the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission. I think it would really help our city if other city leaders particpate and work with others in our county.

I also think our city leaders and city departments should develop relationships with neighboring communities so we can better work together. For example we should work closer with the City of Cincinnati on safety issues on Mitchell Avenue and the Mitchell and Vine Street intersection.

I think it would really benefit our city to work closer with the local colleges and hospitals to market our city and its services and work on a developing a relationship with them.
