CO-CHAIR OF TWO SUCCESSFUL BURLINGAME PARCEL TAX CAMPAIGNS Measure A: Passed in June 2003 with 72% of the vote and generates about $600,000 per year ($76 per parcel). Measure S: Passed in November 2004 with 78% of the vote and generates about $800,000 per year ($104 per parcel). BURLINGAME SCHOOL DISTRICT, SPECIAL EDUCATION DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SEDAC) Advocated to create the SEDAC as a school board member. Appointed to the SEDAC in October 2006. CO-CHAIR OF SUCCESSFUL SMUHSD MEASURE M BOND CAMPAIGN Measure M passed in November 2006 with 66.5% of the vote and raised $298 million to continue the renovation and modernization of the SMUHSD's facilities. MEMBER, BURLINGAME HIGH SCHOOL SELF STUDY TEAM The self study team assessed BHS' strengths and weaknesses to help prepare an action plan for the next six years. FOSTER CITY HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION Advocate for establishing a Foster City-based charter school with an emphasis on mathematics and science as well as project-based learning. SAN MATEO COUNTY SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION President in 2005-06; Vice President in 2004-05. MEMBER, SAN MATEO COUNTY COMMITTEE ON SCHOOL DISTRICT REORGANIZATION This committee considers proposals to change the boundary lines for SMC school districts. MEMBER, SAN MATEO COUNTY BLUE RIBBON COMMITTEE ON AUTISM MEMBER, SPECIAL EDUCATION TASK FORCE TO THE COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS STEVE WESTLY FOR GOVERNOR 2006 Senior policy advisor on education issues.
