BIOGRAPHICAL

Lonnie S. Holmes-is a native of San Francisco, California, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1978. He received a BA from the University of Washington and went on to get his Master Degree in Public Administration. Mr. Holmes has spent the last 20 years working in the Law Enforcement Industry. Presently, he works for the SF Juvenile Probation Department as Acting Director of Community Programs where he oversees 70 Non-Profit organizations that provide alternatives to detention and intervention services for the SF Juvenile Probation Department.

Mr. Holmes is writer of the published story "HUMBLE BEGINNING" in the talk soup book titled "SOULS OF MY BROTHERS" He is also a guest lecturer for UC Berkeley AA Psychology Department, on the behavioral model of Panopticism.

He sits on countless Boards and is an active member in the SF Community. He has spent a lifetime committed to working with the public, private and grassroots sectors to address adult, youth violence and delinquency and was a planning member of the first ever Bayview Hunters Point Conference on Crime.

Mr. Holmes was one of the first American to played professional football on a World League team based in Hong Kong, China. They played games in Government Stadium in Kowloon, Hong Kong. He was also a tried out with several NFL teams, Seattle Seahawks,and the Oakland Raiders as a free agent. He has also visited Beijing, and Shanghai with the SF Sister City contingent.

Presently, he is the Vice President and football coach for the SF Jr. 49er Pop Warner Organization. In 2002 Mr. Holmes raised $50,000.to take 300 under privileged kids to San Jose State University for a tailored football camp that included classroom training on Crime and Violence, Education and Personal Hygiene.

Additionally, Mr. Holmes started a yearly turkey give-away 7 years ago in which he and some volunteers have distributed over 1000 turkeys annually to Public Housing and low income residents in San Francisco. He also distributes toys to over 100 needy children during the Christmas Holiday with the assistance of private funding annually.

He promotes the belief that all San Franciscan should have access to City Government.
