1. What experience related to city government would you bring to the City Council?
I have 4 years on the Gilroy Planning Commission and 6 years as a Gilroy City Councilman.2. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?
Public Safety - With the recent increase in crime in Gilroy, we need to place more police officers on the street. Over the last five years, Gilroy has grown but one single officer has been added to the force.Repair The Sidewalks - Everyone on council talks about it but when presented with a solution, there is not the political will to fix the sidewalks. This council wants to pass an ordinance that names the property owner liable for injury or damage in a lawsuit. I am against it.
Balance the Budget - This year the council passed a budget that spends $4.7 Million more than we plan to take in. Last year it was $5 Million. Is this the way you run your household budget? We must hold back these big raises, new office furniture and the such until we can afford it.
Open Meetings - To many issues are being decided behind closed doors. The community needs to know what is happening in these meetings. I support more open meetings.
