Long ago a Scout Leader told us: "CONSERVATION means to use, but to use wisely." As children of the earth, we owe it to the planet and to OURSELVES to not run roughshod over the earth like there's no tomorrow. Or as Mom said: "Pick-up after yourself!". Let's not leave a trail behind us as we go thru life.
- This includes re-cycling bottles, cans, and newspapers. There is of course the Blue barrel, but they can also provide funds to youth groups. JVHS has such a program.
- Alternative energy, solar, wind, geothermal. Ride your bike to the corner the next time you need cigarettes(that's irony),but you get the picture.
- WATER. We've always washed our cars on the front or back lawns with biodegradable soap, that way the water gets double use. There are other water-wise tips that can be incorporated into peoples lifestyles. Little changes over time add up to a lot.
- SMART GROWTH: You'll hear this term, but it's the plan that got us where we are today. What's needed is a little common sense, a lot of research, and learning from other government agencies.
