This is the brief summary of my views and qualifications which I submitted to the Riverside County Registrar of VotersBanning Unified is the second-lowest performing school district in Riverside County. Two-thirds of our students aren't proficient in math and nearly three-quarters aren't proficient in language arts. Approximately 41-47% of our high school students are projected to dropout over the next four years. I've been very involved with my children's education since kindergarten. I know that the teachers and kids are not the problem. What B.U.S.D. lacks is competent leadership from its school board and superintendent. I will never be a "rubber stamp" for bureaucrats. I'll demand transparent accounting practices to reestablish trust between the teachers and the district. Furthermore, we need to reform how we plan for growth, identify and address student needs, manage facilities, communicate with parents and provide students with a safe learning environment. We must improve student achievement and increase our graduation rate -- challenges that require bold leadership, energy, a spirit of innovation, a readiness to listen to and empower all stakeholders. Traits that the current board and administration do not possess. Whether you're a parent, teacher, student or voter, I need to learn from you.
