Political Philosophy for Lance Monosoff
Candidate for |
Campaign Statement: Name: Lance Monosoff Occupation: Business Owner/Broker I live adjacent to the Carmel River, and have watched the River change over the years. In order to protect the Carmel River and its wildlife, Cal Am must, under state law, develop a new water source to replace water that is now illegally pumped from the river. If Cal Am does not develop this new water source quickly, it will be subject to massive fines. These fines will be passed on to us, as part of our monthly water bill. We will be forced to pay more for our water yet receive no benefit. As a successful businessman, the owner and president of Central Coast Properties, I know how to get things done. I will help the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District Board of Directors ensure that Cal Am complies with the law and develops the water needed on the Peninsula. As an involved concerned citizen, I have chaired and/or served on committees for both the state Sierra Club and the local Sierra Club, Ventana chapter. I also have served on the Carmel Valley Flood Task Force, appointed by Supervisor Sam Karas, and was appointed by Supervisor Dave Potter to serve on Community Service Area 50, which provides advice to the Board concerning lower Carmel River issues. As a lifetime resident of California, and a thirty-six year Monterey Peninsula resident, I understand this areas unique environment and its water needs. Through my business and civic involvement, I understand the concerns of both the business and resident communities. I believe that I can properly balance these needs and protect our natural resources as we plan for the future. As to my personal qualities, I am most proud of my reputation for personal integrity, independence and my work ethic. I am endorsed by: current Water Board directors Kristi Markey and Judi Lehman; past Water Board Directors Zan Henson and Molly Erickson; Carmel River Advisory Committee members John Dalessio and Richard Rosenthal; CVA President Glenn Robinson; CV Forum President Max Chaplin; CV Land Use Advisory Committee Member Neil Agron; Sierra Club Ventana Chair Rita Dalessio; and community leaders Barbara Livingston, Robert E. Kohn, Gillian Taylor, Janice O'Brien, Robert Greenwood, Melanie and Harvey Billig, Milt Kegley, Paula & Lee Lotz, Corky Matthews, Clayton & Linda Anderson, Bill Monning, and Rod & Anne Mills I ask for your vote. |
