Political Philosophy for Diana Jimenez

My family and I have strong roots in North Monterey County. This is where my husband and I have chosen to raise and educate our children. Through my personal and professional experiences, I have had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life; from homeless individuals to highly educated doctors, lawyers, and professors. Nothing has saddened me more then seeing children caught up in situations that they have no control over, such as poverty. Ultimately, I know that public education plays a key role in assisting children out of poverty. I also know that the best trained teacher, teaching the best curriculum that is perfectly aligned to the states' standards, does not matter to little ones who are worried about their next meal, where they will sleep tonight, or about substance abuse or violence in their home. Support services in the areas of food, housing, mental health, counseling, and medical care play a critical role in removing barriers to a child's ability to be engaged and learn in school. This is why I have dedicated my time throughout the years serving on various community boards and commissions that help improve the overall quality of life for families. This includes the: North Monterey County Unified School District; Monterey County Mental Health Commission, Juvenile Justice Commission, Sunrise House, Castroville Redevelopment Advisory Committee, CHISPA, and Clinica De Salud. Should I be elected to this office, I will consider it an honor and will work diligently to serve our community and its families to the best of my ability. I thank you for your consideration and support. |
