Candidate for
Board Member; Monterey Peninsula Community College District; 4 Year Term

In 1993 I retired as Executive Director of Legal Services For Seniors (LSS), providing fee legal services to Monterey County senior citizens. Since retirement I served as a Monterey College of Law Trustee for six years and Interim Administrative Dean in 1994. I was a member of the Monterey Peninsula College Foundation and served as President in 2003.

I was honored to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Monterey College of Law Alumni Association in 1998, and the Distinguished Alumni Award (Lobo Hall of Fame) from MPC in 2005.

I am a native of the Monterey Peninsula. My wife Lydia and I have been married for 46 years and have two adult daughters. We have all attended Monterey Peninsula College.

I was a member of the MPC Bond Steering Committee in 2002, and was appointed to the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee in 2003.

During 2007, while serving as Chair of the MPC Governing Board I have also co-chaired the MPC Community Stadium Wall of Honor, raising over $600,000 for our new stadium and fitness facility.

Prior to my law career I was the owner of a supermarket for 18 years, and have always been active in community volunteer activities. I served as a member of Kiwanis for 16 years serving as President and Lieutenant Governor. I have also served as Vice President for Finance of the Monterey Bay Boy Scout Council.
