Official Statement for Dom Betro

DOM BETRO It is a time of change, of renaissance for Ward One and our city. Some have said more has been done in the past three years than ever before. Crime is at an all time low in the ward, while jobs in the city are at an all time high. The Fox Theater is being renovated for a 2008 opening, Fairmount Park has an approved 20 million dollar master plan, Mt. Rubidoux and Evergreen Cemetery will get the rehabilitation they deserve, and Tequesquite will get the park promised long ago. I have worked hard to preserve and enhance neighborhoods by implementing traffic calming measures, street, sidewalk, and lighting repairs, closing down 24 illegal group homes, addressing homelessness through services and enforcement, and protecting our hillsides. By tirelessly responding to constituent calls for service, and regularly working with over 15 neighborhood groups, we continue to achieve results. These results are based on a willingness to listen, work together and forge compromises, balancing our common desire to preserve our heritage, as we create the amenities we all expect from a twenty first century city. I hope you consider my efforts worthy of your vote on June 5 to continue as your councilman. |
