Why I will be a positive addition to the Harrison School Board.I believe that in addition to reading, `riting and `rithmetic, there are three R's that are equally important: rights, responsibility, and respect. Every child has a right to the best possible education. Students, teachers and parents have the responsibility to do their part in the acquisition of that education. Children should respect themselves, property and others. The adults who are their role models: educators, parents and board members should model that respect. There are many reasons why I will be a positive addition to the Harrison School Board. My background and experience give me insight and knowledge about many issues that come before the board. My work as an officer of many organizations has demonstrated that I am a good listener. I ask appropriate questions, analyze information, arrive at thoughtful decisions and express my opinion. Most importantly, I have a strong work ethic. As I retire from my teaching position this June, the time is right for me to participate more actively in my community. Serving on the Board of Education will enable me to continue to be involved in education and positively affect children. |
