As our neighborhood grows, the public safety infrastructure needs to be enhanced. On City Council I promise to focus on "Quality of Life" issues like graffiti prevention and clean-up. I will develop a viable use for the Old Berryessa Public Library on Noble Avenue so that it does not become a source of urban blight, but rather efficiently used to meet the needs of our community. In addition, I will continue serve as a bridge between the community and the San Jose Police Department so local concerns are promptly addressed.
Of course public safety is more than just fighting crimes. It's about having an all encompassing plan to protect our children when they are in schools and our neighborhoods when they are home. It's about adequately funding fire protection and medical services so they can react quickly to emergencies. We must to hire more firefighters, police officers and other first responders to reduce the time it takes to respond when our neighbors need help.
