Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Nathan J "Nate" Noy

Candidate for
US Representative; District 2

This information is provided by the candidate

Most people running for office will ask everyone for his or her vote. However, there are some people in this district that should not vote for me. The beliefs I hold to be true are my own. My background and personal experiences have led me to these beliefs.

I grew up poor in Pike County, which at the time was Bob McEwen's old 6th District. I worked in college food service washing dishes and serving food to pay for my own college degree (I also became a tutor and research assistant in the economics department.) After earning a bachelor's in economics I went on to law school and represented indigent defendants and worked at a pizza place to pay for my law degree.

During law school my wife, Devon, and I had our first child(we now have three children ages 10, 7 and 5.) After law school I decided that the law was not what I really wanted in a career so I became a consultant. After a few years I returned to school and earned a full-time MBA from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business while also working full-time for the State of Ohio Schoolnet agency.

After OSU I was recruited for a special program for MBAs and I actually spent almost a year with full P&L responsibility at the Eastgate Steak n' Shake in Clermont County. Next I went on to Chicagoland for a few years where I was the Director of Legal and Government Affairs for a non-profit trade association. There I worked with the U.S. House and Senate as well as federal agencies such as OSHA and DHS. I came back to the 2nd District to raise my family.

I am a Christian and I believe in John Locke's theory of government and the U.S. Constitution. Therefore some people should not vote for me:

Do not vote for me if you believe abortion should be utilized as a form of birth control;

Do not vote for me if you want to remove guns from the hands of law abiding citizens;

Do not vote for me if you believe saving trees is more important than saving jobs;

Do not vote for me if you believe higher taxes can solve any of the problems in our economy;

Do not vote for me if you believe homosexuals should have any special protections under the law;

Do not vote for me if you believe government should be a forum for special interest groups and the wealthy; and

Do not vote for me if you believe the role of government is to "take care of you."

Any progressive liberal that casts his or her vote in my direction is making a mistake. I am an economic and social conservative. I know there are some voters in the 2nd District do not share our conservative values, those people would not be happy with me as their representative.
