----------------- WORK EXPERIENCE -------------------------

Interface Children Family Services Camarillo, Ca President and CEO

- Executive leadership responsibility for Interface Children Family Services of Ventura County, a non-profit community agency with over 179 employees, 900 volunteers, 125 contract professionals and an almost $9 million dollar budget serving over 183,000 people last year.

- Directly responsible for the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Program Officer, Director of Charitable Giving and Secretary of the Board who collectively maintain day to day management of Community Development, Fiscal/Personnel/Administrative Services and the six Service Divisions of the agency which include Mental Health, Domestic Violence, Youth Development, 2-1-1 Ventura, Child Abuse and the Interface Institute.

- Served as the principal consultant and trainer. providing Technical Assistance and Training to the 120+ Battered Women's Shelters throughout California via contract with the Department of Health Services-MCH/DVS for nine years. Lead trainer for administrative topics: Finance, Human Resources, Technology and Management.

Recent achievements include:

  • Bringing 2-1-1 to Ventura County on February 11, 2005. The first 2-1-1 service to go live in California. The program has subsequently become a Regional 2-1-1 Center serving Santa Barbara, Orange, Riverside and Santa Clara Counties.

  • Facilitating the rehabilitation of the Oak View Elementary School into the Oak View Park and Resource Center.

  • Awarded the Work Life Family Friendly Employeraward for last three years.

  • Author of the White Paper entitled "Beyond the Rhetoric of Public Private Partnership" which has been accepted for publication by the California Department of Social Services. + Office of Child Abuse Prevention.

Ventura County Tobacco Settlement Evaluation and Oversight Committee -Charitable Organization Committee Member

- Provide oversight and advice regarding the 5-Year Strategic Tobacco Settlement Allocation Plan in accordance with Ordinance 4218.

Community Commission for Ventura County Past Chairperson of Children's Coordinating Council

- Provided leadership and policy development for activities and priorities of children and family service organizations throughout Ventura County. The Commission is made up of leaders and elected officials representing the four quadrants of the Community, County, Cities and School Boards.

First Five - Ventura County Children and Family First Commission Past-Chairperson of Commission

- Provide leadership and policy development for funds allocated via Proposition 10 (Tobacco Tax) for early childhood development efforts in Ventura County

California Association of Nonprofits Immediate Past -President of the Board
- Provided leadership and policy development for this statewide membership organization of almost 2,000 nonprofits. CAN's mission is to strengthen and expand the professionalism, governance, influence and effectiveness of California nonprofit organizations.

CAN Insurance Services Board Member

- Provided leadership and policy development for this wholly owned subsidiary of the California Association of Nonprofits. CAN's mission is to provide affordable insurance services to California nonprofit organizations.

Board of Directors United Way of Ventura County President of the Agency Executive Directors Council

- Provided leadership and support to 62 United Ways funded agencies in Ventura County. Monitored United Way Board actions and policy decisions regarding agency goals and community priorities. Helped design the categorical funding and allocation plan.

Board of Directors California Child Youth and Family Coalition Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance and Fund Development Committee.

- Responsible for the Annual Fund Development Campaign, monitoring of the fiscal procedures and operations, and development of the annual budget ($400K). The Board of Directors is annually elected by a membership of 278 California non-profit agencies and local coalitions.

Cadre of Consultants + California Youth Authority Technical Consultant

- Participated as a technical consultant in the area of non-profit agency management and computerization.

Board of Directors National Network For Youth Region IX Representative to the national office (NNRYS) and the Vice Chairman of the Board.

- The Board of Directors is elected by a membership of over 246 social service agencies in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii to advocate on behalf of the needs of children and families.

- Provided technical assistance and training for Sutter Lakeside, The Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Program, Jewish Elderhome of Ventura County, Rape and Sexual Abuse Center, Redwood Region Youth Service Bureau, Western States Youth Service Network, Chinatown Youth Services, United Jewish Appeal, Center for Positive Prevention, Jewish Preschool of Fresno, San Diego Youth and Community Services, California Association of Youth Services Bureaus, Delta Xray and numerous professional firms.

- Joined with The Oertel Group: Maximizing Nonprofit Performance, Patty Oertel President

San Diego Youth & Community Services San Diego, Ca. Family Care Resource Center Program Director a division of SDYCS

- Provided long-term foster placement of "High Risk" adolescents as part of a research and demonstration project. Responsible for the overall management of 7 full time counselors, 138 foster parents and 250 adolescents in placement. Developed a fee for service component for out-of-home placement. Responsibilities included public relations, direct staff supervision, coordination with community agencies, training evaluation, fiscal management of $300,000, quality control and cooperative administrative management of the agency.

Sacred Heart Home Pueblo, Co Unit Supervisor

- Supervised two residential units at Sacred Heart Home - a 68 bed residential treatment facility for behaviorally disturbed children ages 6-18. Supervised the overall functioning of 10 staff and 23 adolescents in residential facility.
