|
The time is quickly approaching to vote for Harbor Commissioners. There are eight candidates running for three elected positions. It is important to elect a Harbor Commissioner with excellent inter-personal relationships, positive communication skills and business experieinces and I believe, my presence on the Board will bring positive interactions to achieve important decisions for the Port of Hueneme and our citizens and businesses. I am asking support from voters to elect "Arlene Naomi Fraser" for one of the three positions; please look closely at your ballot, my name is listed at the 7th position. Thank you for your consideration and vote for "Arlene Naomi Fraser" on November 7, 2006. Your support will help me to achieve goals relating to:
I strongly believe in keeping the Port of Hueneme as an elected special district, Oxnard Harbor District, with voters deciding and electing its five Harbor Commissioners. My focus will be to insure that safety and security issues will be top priority at the Port. I will also encourage retention of current Port customers and attract prospective customers to increase jobs and quality of life. I will encourage improvements at the Port to meet the needs of port related businesses and keep commmunications open to the public and all interested policy makers. I believe in teamwork and positive thinking to achieve goals. My leadership relationships and communication skills will be an asset on the Board of Harbor Commissioners. For more than ten years, I have and will continue to work closely with our surrounding jurisdictions: Naval Base Ventura County, cities of Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Channel Islands Coummunity Service District, County of Ventura, Chambers of Commerce, local citizens of the county and businesses. The Port of Hueneme is an important resource to our local and global economy. I have attended board meetings for more than ten years and know all of the current Harbor Commissioners and most of the Harbor District staff. I have attended several port related tours and am familiar with several of the port customers. I understand the importance of the ILWU and SEIU Unions and employees at the Port. I have excellent relations with: our local elected officials, field representatives, city staff and local military leaders. I have attended many city council meetings, travelled to Sacramento and visited several of our State representatives, and also visited our Congressional representatives in Washington, D.C. I pledge, to serve and represent our citizens and businesses as Harbor Commissioner, to the best of my abilities and work to achieve safety, security and prosperity, when elected on November 7, 2006. |
