Dear Friends: I look forward to advancing the platform of promoting public safety, education, transportation, and a healthy business climate in the state. I will continue to give you a voice among the lobbyists and special interest groups in Sacramento. It is my honor to bring our agenda to Sacramento and to work along side some of the most qualified and dedicated teams of public officials in this state. I will represent the public benefit by: Ensuring the safety of our children, communities and the men and women in public safety that dutifully and diligently protect us with their lives. The public safety agenda has always been my top priority. In my first term, I joint-authored AB 488, which placed the Megan's Law database on the Internet. We must continue to promote effective public safety policies in this state; Striving to give our children a high quality education in world class public school institutions. As a former high school teacher and school board trustee, I understand the value and long-term investment in a quality education. Our students are the future leaders and our schools play an integral role in developing essential character and leadership attributes. We cannot afford to sacrifice our children's education to the desires of special interest groups; Curbing traffic congestion on local streets and highways--not with the bureaucracy in Sacramento, but by empowering local transportation officials to creatively solve the challenges they face on a local level. If we turn our backs on infrastructure, we turn our backs on the economy. Our quality of life should not be diminished by the time lost on traffic congestion; taking time away from our families. We must protect Proposition 42 and ensure its full funding; Supporting our state's growing economy and job market, so that every family can have the opportunity to experience the California dream. Workers' compensation rates and an overall unfriendly business environment have driven countless businesses out of the state. We must work to ensure that businesses are given a chance to thrive, as they serve as the backbone of our economy. We must create and ensure incentives to encourage businesses to want to do business in this state. Together, we will help keep the California dream alive. Sincerely, TODD SPITZER Assemblymember, 71st District toddspitzer.org |
