Candidate StatementBy Arne SimonsenCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 11 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
A solid record of experience, action and results. My campaign is based on the personal issues we face every day. I will work to relieve traffic congestion by funding road improvements, bring jobs closer to our homes, and improve our educational system. I will also work to prevent the State from raiding local revenues that reduce our communities' ability to fix our roads and hire more police. I believe that people want results, not partisan politics. I have a life-long commitment to public service. The Governor of Kentucky appointed me an Honorary Kentucky Colonel for my work with charitable organizations. Some of my contributions include providing assistance to Habitat for Humanity, raising money for hospitalized children, and educating underprivileged adults. My business and professional experience includes service in both the public and private sectors. I am a retired small business owner and retired from the US Navy as a Russian linguist and cryptologist, and am conversant in four other languages. I earned my degrees from the University of the State of New York and advanced Russian training at the National Cryptologic School. Currently, I am serving on the Antioch City Council, Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority, California Delta Protection Commission, and am President of the East Bay League of California Cities. Sylvia and I have been married for 38 years. We have three grown children; Arne Jr. 36, Deborah 34, Scott 33, and granddaughter Brooke 6. Please visit my website at http://www.arnesimonsen.com. If you have any questions, please email me at arne@arnesimonsen.com or call me at my home (925) 779-0905. |
