Amnesty, the erasure of a crime for a broken law, should not be rewarded with citizenship.Clemency would be a better term for solutions.

By Ernie Lippe

Candidate for United States Representative; District 53

This information is provided by the candidate
Illegal immigrants, especially those not being taxed and not contributing to our economic system, should be denied all social services. Citizenship given to their offspring should be cancelled. However, an opportunity for them to step forward, become registered, pay taxes, and become citizens should be made available. There is no free lunch.
Amnesty awarded to illegal immigrants is wrong. Unless one is an American Indian, all here are descendants of people who emigrated and who had to fulfill the conditions of citizenship. The case may be made that there is a need for these immigrants, but they must participate in our system. To not insist on this condition will only induce more of them to illegally breach our borders. No social services should be extended to any unregistered immigrants. Offspring born here to illegals should have citizenship cancelled. Fool proof systems must be developed to ascertain authenticity of suspected illegals. Clemency, showing mercy, should be extended to those willing to come forward, register, and become part of the system. Becoming a citizen should be the eventual goal. Borders should be sealed as well as possible. Economic pressure on Mexico to improve its environmental situation for its own people should be insisted upon. Those who wish to stay here, but are unwilling to learn English, who won't embrace our flag and traditions, should seriously consider going home.
