My priorities as an Assemblymember
FAMILY, INDIVIDUALS & COMMUNITY - Improve funding for our police, sheriff, and fire departments to increase staffing, improve training, and provide new technology to adequately secure and protect our communities. Improve classroom conditions and update educational materials. Reduce classroom sizes in 4th through 12th grades and revitalize after school programs in sports, art & music. Reduce college tuition fees for California residents. Offer tuition credits for college students that tutor elementary and high school students. Protect the personal, privacy, and property rights of all Californians. Continue education in tolerance and diversity in order to achieve absolute equality for everyone.

HEALTHCARE - Develop programs to provide early and affordable healthcare. Expand on the delivery of preventative health measures and preventative education. Create programs to promote healthy pregnancy to help prevent newborn illnesses. Modify the adoption process to help all adoptive children find safe, healthy, and nurturing homes. Add healthy eating / lifestyle education to our elementary educational curriculum and eliminate junk food from California's schools.

THE ENVIRONMENT - Develop partnerships with California's colleges and universities to lead the nation in the development and implementation of clean / alternative fuels. Re-Create the California Coastal Commission by building a team of environmentalists, scientists, and marine biologists to restore and manage our coastline and wetlands. Substantially increase fines for polluters of California's water, air, land, and food. Lead an alliance to dismantle Federal laws that are harmful to our natural environments.

NEIGHBORHOODS & COMMUNITIES - Build cooperative relationships with business and the communities they serve to drive policy on a livable wage, secure jobs, and maintaining a stable economy. Create state income tax credits to individuals who volunteer in our schools and the community. Develop first-time home-buyer programs to revitalize our communities and help young people afford housing. Create enterprise zones and eliminate redundant regulations to help revitalize small business in our communities.

GOVERNMENT - Implementing clean money / publicly funded political campaigns. Require full and honest disclosure of all functions of government. Maintain a balanced state budget. Make government more easily accessible and respectful of its citizens.
