Political Philosophy for Lawrence R. Hileman
Candidate for |

I'm much like you. I'm not a career politician. I'm a working man who believes in lower taxes. We want many of the same things: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. This compelled me to act. We are a nation of immigrants. Our diversity is our strength. Our unity gives that strength both direction and purpose. We heartily welcome all legal immigrants. Our desire is for every American, both native and naturalized, to have every opportunity to achieve their dreams. Over the past twenty years, we have had approximately 12,000,000 people illegally cross U.S. borders. They are often terribly misused, paid a fraction of minimum wage, and denied even basic human services. Our nation cannot sustain this rapid influx of illegal immigration. I oppose blanket amnesty. We need comprehensive immigration reform. California needs to strengthen its borders to stop the flow of undocumented immigrants. We can then work on a common sense "worker program" so that businesses have the workers they need and all employees are treated respectfully. Currently, 51% of the State General Fund is allocated to Education. Are we using the funds efficiently? How many of those dollars actually reach the classrooms? What percentage of the education budget is misdirected to bureaucrats holding committee meetings, when it should be going to teacher salaries and school programs? I want to go to Sacramento to be your voice, and to fight for the things we want and need. I believe that together we can make a difference. |
