This information is provided by the candidate
Rob Haswell is a fifth-generation Gold Country native who lives in Auburn with his wife Kim and their two young children, a daughter, Kennedy and a son, Martin. His parents still live in Truckee, where Rob was born and raised. The Haswell family's roots run deep in Placer County. In the 1870s, Rob's great-great grandfather, Frederick Birdsall, settled in Auburn and founded the Aeolia Olive Oil Company, which his family ran until the early 1970s. Haswell believes that investing in Placer County's agricultural economy and preserving open space is critical to maintaining the quality of life that makes the region such a desirable place to live.
Haswell's work experience includes construction, journalism, education and the high tech industry. This combination of employment experience in the private and public sectors has provided him with a broad perspective about the issues facing working Californians. Haswell took a leave from his job as a software communications engineer in January to focus on his campaign full-time. Although this seems like the quintessential underdog race, Haswell believes people are ready for candidates who are not career politicians. This open seat (the seat is being vacated by Tim Leslie due to term limits) provides an opportunity for change.
