I'm a single father of two who raised my children alone since Lee was in diapers, (he's now 24), so I know the challenges facing single parent homes first hand. That both of my children were learning disabled certainly added to those challenges. I consider my greatest achievement however, to be my three grand kids - although I'm sure my daughter would have an opinion about that - and I enjoy spending as much time with them as I can. They are also my greatest concern and the main reason I've decided to run for public office - to give them the opportunities and the future which I know California can offer but now seems threatened by the inactions and self-serving conduct of our elected officials in Sacramento.

I was born and have lived most of my life here in Southern California. My Mother, both of my sisters,my son and my daughter with her family also live here. So I have a vested interest and a deep commitment to what happens in California and to ensure that our elected officials do their jobs right.

By training, I'm an Enrolled Agent/Taxpayer's Advocate. I'm also a Notary Public. In truth, I've done a little of almost everything in my professional life. I'm currently the CFO/Business Manager of a small company in Encinitas. I know how difficult it can be for an employer in this state to conduct business while trying to comply with the myriad, convoluted, and too often conflicting regulations imposed by a bureaucracy too often interested only in its own self-preservation and proliferation. Equally important, I know how to read a set of financial papers. I know what it takes to write a balanced budget, to live within that budget, and to make every dollar count - skills that seem to be lost in Sacramento...

The reason I've chosen to run for the California State Assembly is that I've simply become angry with the mess our so called elected public servants have created in Sacramento, and I believe I can make a difference, especially in education, creating jobs and improving the business environment of California.
