Overview of the Buck Campaign Issues

"I am concerned about our safety, the condition of our schools, keeping taxes low, and protecting our natural resources. As a mother of three, I want all our children to inherit a California that is clean, safe and prosperous."

Public Safety There is no more fundamental function of government than that of public safety. It is the most elementary reason for which groups of people have historically come together to form government to begin with. I believe particular attention should be paid to ensuring the safety of our most vulnerable residents, especially children.

Goal: to support measures that ensure adequate public safety personnel and infrastructure for our growing population, and support those measures that would remove threats to public safety.

Education California should remain diligent in ensuring that all children receive the highest quality education in order to ensure a future work force that is competitive in a global economy. Children and teachers should be in learning environments that are healthy and safe, thus eliminating any distractions to the mission of our schools.

Goal: to ensure California school facilities and the education received therein are the best in the world.

Economic Prosperity Prosperous businesses that employ Californians are the backbone of our State's fiscal success. The revenue California needs in order to fulfill the function of our government need not come from higher tax rates. In order to meet the fiscal goals and objectives of the State, we must ensure that our businesses prosper and that our residents have good paying jobs that allow them to reach their highest earning potential.

Goal: to serve as a levee that protects residents' and business' bank accounts from a burdensome outflow of taxes, and support measures which foster successful California businesses, particularly those that employ a high percentage of Californians.

Environmental Protection The economic vitality of our State depends upon reliable supplies of clean air, water and energy. Individual citizens and businesses should be rewarded for voluntary acts of conservation and environmental stewardship. Government should encourage private industry to be forward-thinking in securing long term solutions that will provide adequate resources to our residents, and invest in incentives that will create viable advances in technology that will aid in the acquisition and delivery of necessary resources to our growing population.

Goal: to facilitate coordinated efforts between government and private industry to ensure public health and the economic vitality of California through environmental protection.
