I deeply believe in the obligation of elected representatives to properly represent all those who are their constituents. I believe elected officials have a trust to uphold and should be held accountable for their actions, or inaction. I am running for public office because I believe the future starts TODAY and that we ALL have an obligation to provide for the future of our children through the quality of our schools and school programs, the quality of our environment, and the quality of and availability of universal health care. I believe that many social and economic issues impact businesses as well as the general public, who are also their employees and consumers and that we have an obligation to protect and strengthen our local businesses to insure the vitality of our communities. I strongly believe as well in the importance of providing a safe environment for our workers along with adequate livable wages, and the right to collective bargaining and reasonable workman's compensation procedures.I deeply believe that we also have an obligation to insure security for our seniors--our aging population--through adequate and protected social security, pensions, and health plans, just as we have a deep obligation to provide the necessary support for the reincorporation of men and women who serve our nation and for their families as well when these men and women are serving to protect this nation.

Careless planning, planning subverted by special interests that endangers our environment is intolerable and unacceptable. We must plan and protect our precious environment as we have for 130 years; we owe that to ourselves and our future generations--protection of the coasts, protection of our national and state parks, protection of urban and rural environments against senseless development that has no regard for the quality of life. At the same time due regard must be given to providing adequate services, including transportation facilities, for our remarkably mobile population. We must also provide adequate safety measure to insure the "general tranquility."
