Top three priorities:

1. To build on the strengths of our district, such as the two-way duel-immersion program at Cali Calmécac Charter School, and include multiple language options (not just spoken languages), which would include the "languages" of art, music, dance, theater and journalism.
2. To encourage, as Windsor grows, the funding, planning and building of new school facilities to accommodate this expansion and to provide this alternative education to all students in the district, regardless of their first language.
3. To help facilitate working partnerships between the Windsor Unified School District and the Town of Windsor, the County of Sonoma and the State of California to mutually support the building of these facilities and programs.)

Diversity of opportunity - I will work to expand the current education system to the highest standards possible, to help create a system where teachers can nurture the children themselves as well as their minds.

I value a student-centered education, one that focuses on the personal achievement of individual students. A test-centered curriculum only serves the needs of the test givers. Students are not the sum of their test scores and it is wrong to think of them in that way. The more support each student receives, from family, teachers and administrators and from the larger community, in pursuit of his or her education, the more choices they will have in what they will productively bring back into the community as adults. I envision a system where multiple language options are available (for example, the languages of art, music, dance, theater and journalism) and not just the spoken languages. I want to create a critical thinking environment where students would be taught the whole truth about their community and nation, both the wonders and the blemishes.

Unity through working together - I will seek to promote the shared goals of parents, educators and administrators to improve and increase the opportunities for our kids to have a wider range of learning options available to them through greater community engagement.

Every child has the right to achieve the summit of their potential as a learned person, and it is our responsibility as parents and as adults to create an environment of learning and critical thinking. I want to continue the good work the school board has been doing for the Windsor community, and look to an even brighter future for all our children. Only by working together in a shared vision of student-centered learning will the reality of a diverse, thorough and successful school education be fully achieved by every child.

Community for all - I will work with the community and encourage and support the forming of mutually beneficial, fiscally responsible partnerships between the school district and the Town of Windsor and the County of Sonoma and the State of California to provide educational services and opportunities to all.

Over the next ten years, many crucial decisions will be made concerning the kind of education to offer our children in a growing Windsor Unified School District. Our community is diverse, multi-cultural, economically broad, far-ranging in ideals and goals and multi-facetted. Sharing our common desires for a successful education system, we can continue to make it a reality. I value a student-centered curriculum, not a test-centered curriculum. The purpose of testing is to help the teacher assess what the student has or has not learned. A test is not a means for reward or punishment, it is a measure of whether the student needs corrective help, and an indicator for what kind of help the student needs. The one who must be held accountable for their achievement is the student, not the teacher, not the administrator, not the school. But students need the educational/remedial help they require to master the curriculum, not to earn a grade on a test.

Values

I care for children and their education. I want to protect them from harm, treat them fairly and help them achieve their dreams. It takes an investment of time and money by the community to give children the freedom and opportunity to fulfill their desires and grow into productive adults. It is my responsibility to serve and help shape that community through open honest communication. Trust makes cooperation possible.

Principles

I want equity between people and their community. If students work hard, play by the rules, and serve themselves, their family and their community, then it is the community's responsibility to provide them an opportunity for an excellent education.

I will do everything possible to guarantee equality, to maximize adult and parental participation and invest in public education by teaching children how to build and maintain the public infrastructure through engaged critical thinking.

I will work to encourage and support the forming of mutually beneficial, fiscally responsible partnerships between the school district and the Town of Windsor and the County of Sonoma and the State of California to provide educational services and opportunities for all.

It is my responsibility to promote and, if possible, provide children enrolled in our schools:

- Protection from harm and violence
- A greater democratic voice
- Freedom through critical thinking
- A safe environment
- Opportunities for prosperity, physical and mental health and fulfillment in life

District policy directions

I will support and promote:

- A local economy centered on innovation that creates a prosperous learning environment for our children.

- A strong adherence to security and safeguards and learned self-care inherent in programs like Second Step and Safe School Ambassadors

- More on-site healthcare for students at school and in the community

- Expanding the current education system to the highest standards possible, wherein teachers nurture children and their minds, and teach them the whole truth about their community and nation, both upside and downside

Tres prioridades principales:

Diversidad de oportunidad - Extender el sistema educativo actual a los niveles más altos posibles, un sistema en donde los maestros acogen a los niños al igual que sus mentes, lo que incluye opciones múltiples de idiomas, no sólo español, sino que el idioma del arte, música, baile, teatro y periodismo. Crear un medio ambiente de pensamiento crítico en donde los estudiantes se enseñarán diciéndoles la verdad acerca de su comunidad y la nación, ambas, las maravillas y sus problemas.

Valoro la educación centrada en el estudiante, una que se enfoque en los logros individuales. Un currículo centrado en las pruebas sólo sirve las necesidades de los que piden las pruebas. Los estudiantes no son la suma de los resultados de sus pruebas y está equivocado pensar acerca de ellos en esa manera. Mientras más apoyo recibe un estudiante, de su familia, maestros y administradores y de la comunidad en general, en la búsqueda de su educación, más oportunidades tendrán para ofrecer a la comunidad su productividad como adultos.

La persona quien es responsable por sus logros es el estudiante y no el maestro o administrador, ni la escuela. Pero los estudiantes necesitan la educación y la ayuda que requieren para aprender el currículo, y no obtener una calificación en una prueba.

Valores

Me preocupo por los niños y su educación. Deseo protegerlos, tratarlos justamente y ayudarlos a lograr sus sueños. Toma una inversión de tiempo y dinero de la comunidad para dar a los niños la libertad y oportunidad de satisfacer sus sueños y crecer adultos productivos. Es mi responsabilidad servir y ayudar a moldear esa comunidad por medio de una comunicación honesta y abierta. La confianza hace la cooperación posible.

Deseo la equidad entre la gente y la comunidad. Si la gente trabaja duro, sigue las reglas, y sirve a ambos, la familia y la comunidad, entonces la comunidad debe de ofrecer un estándar decente de vida, libertad, seguridad y oportunidad.

Haré todo lo posible por garantizar equidad política y evitar desequilibrio de poder político. Quiero llevar al máximo la participación de adultos en la educación e invertir en la educación pública enseñando a los niños cómo construir y mantener la infraestructura pública por medio del pensamiento crítico.

Trabajaré con negocios de la comunidad para animar y apoyar la formación de beneficio mutuo, asociaciones fiscalmente responsables entre el distrito escolar y el Pueblo de Windsor y el Condado de Sonoma y el Estado de California para ofrecer mejores servicios educativos y oportunidades para todos.

Mi responsabilidad es promover y ofrecer a los niños matriculados en nuestras escuelas:
